James M. (Mike) Shaw (Democratic Committeeman for Centerview Township)
Career Background: I have been in the construction industry most of my life, and now work as an Ironworker in the Kansas City area.
Community Activities: I am a member of the Johnson County Historical Society, the West-Central Genealogical Society and the Blind Boone Park Renovation Group.
Educational Background: My formal education ended with graduation from Warrensburg High School, Class of 1968.
Electoral History: From 1987 until 2000, I served on the Centerview Board of Alderman. I was elected Mayor of Centerview once, and was twice appointed to that position to fulfill unfinished terms.
Resident of Johnson County: I have lived in Johnson County for 39 years. My wife, Nancy, and I have lived in, or near, Centerview for 32 of those years. There are three generations of my family represented by gravestones in the Centerview Cemetery.
Statement: The availability of quality jobs is important to any community, but just as important is the sense of community. We must find ways to work together to solve problems. I have no agendas or "axes to grind," and will try to apply common sense to any problems presented to me.
