2 drivers hurt seriously in Sunday accidents in Johnson County

WARRENSBURG, MO.--Two drivers sustained serious injuries in accidents in Johnson County Sunday, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Brian K. Atkinson, 22, of Holden, failed to stop at a T intersection at SW 1351 and SW 400 at 4:08 a.m. His car went off the road, became airborne, struck two trees, and overturned, landing on its top. Atkinson, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was thrown from the car. He was transported by Lifeflight to Centerpoint Medical Center.

His passenger, Travis C. Wood, 17, of Chilhowee, had moderate injuries and was taken to Golden Valley Hospital.

In a 3:42 p.m. accident, Dale D. Hill, 36, of Holden, was seriously injured when his southbound pickup went off the right sde of Missouri 131 near NW 700 in a curve, hit the ditch, crossed to the left side of the road, overturned and came to rest on its tires.

Wood was cited for driving while intoxicated. Both accidents were investigated by Sgt. D.S. Green.
