WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Alice Greife, dean of the College of Science and Technology at the University of Central Missouri, today announced a live training simulation of an aircraft accident at Max B. Swisher Skyhaven Airport. The event begins at the airport at approximately 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 19.
The College of Science and Technology's Department of Aviation and airport personnel will work in cooperation with Johnson County Emergency Medical Services, Johnson County Rural Fire District, Warrensburg Fire Department, Johnson County Sheriff's Department, Warrensburg Police Department, Missouri Highway Patrol agents, UCM Department of Public Safety, and Civil Air Patrol.
The purpose of the mock training scenario is to identify areas within a mutual response situation that warrant special attention to help facilitate a strong working relationship between UCM and representative agencies in Warrensburg, Johnson County and the state of Missouri.
The exercise is scheduled to last until approximately noon that day. The public is permitted to attend. It will be an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the airport, and its role in the local community, Greife said.
For further information regarding the event, you may contact the College of Science and Technology at 660-543-4030 or the airport at 660-543-4921.
