WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The Warrensburg High School golf team won the WCC Conference Golf Match yesterday by shooting a 306 at the St. Pius hosted Hodge Park Golf Course.

This is the 20th WCC Championship and the first since 2003 for the golf team.

Ryan Marks was the medalist for the day, shooting 69, two under par. Geoff Fernquist shot 76, Andrew Marks shot 80, and Gibson Larkin shot 81. Other scores for Warrensburg were Mason Good with 84 and Josh Fernquist with 89.

Harrisonville finished second with 322; O'Hara, 331; St. Pius, 334; Sedalia, 336; and Clinton, 348.

Warrensburg head coach Guy Albert was pleased with the results of Tuesday's performance.

"We had a very solid performance yesterday at Hodge Park," head coach Guy Albert said. "The course is not long and Ryan and Geoff were able to take advantage of the course. We accomplished one of the goals we set early in the season of winning the WCC crown. I am really proud of their efforts and this tops off a great season for all of them, but in particular Andrew, Gibson and Josh.

"Andrew was our consistent score throughout the season. He manages his game very well and just didn’t have that blow up round this year. Gibson really came on strong as the season progressed and was a significant competitor throughout the season."

Albert said that the future is bright for the Warrensburg golfers.

"We have four really solid freshmen with Layton Moore being the fourth, and they will be pushing each other throughout the summer and into next season," Albert said.

Ryan Marks, Geoff Fernquist, and Mason Good all qualified as individuals to compete at the MO Class 3 State Championship at River Cut Golf Course in Springfield on Monday and Tuesday of next week.

"It is our goal to have all three of them earn all state honors," Albert said.

All Conference Honors were awarded by the coaches for the season. 1st Team All Conference was awarded to Ryan Marks and Geoff Fernquist, Warrensburg; Jacob Burkholder, Sedalia; Alex Smith, Clinton; and Daniel Lapari, St. Pius. 2nd Team All Conference was awarded to Mason Good, Warrensburg; Mark Vardakas, O’Hara; Ian Cox, Daniel Parman, and Josh Sudheimer, Harrisonville.
