IBE is a class run through the business school in which students learn how to start and run a business. The first priority is to pick a charity to donate all profits.
Marketing manager for Dry Up Hunger Co. Zack Johnson, along with finance manager Whitney Baragary, presented the check to the treasurer of the food center, Jerry Young.
The food center wasn’t sure what to expect when Dry Up Hunger Co. approached them about donating profits to their charity, Young said.
“I didn’t think it would be this great. The donation will be well received and all of it will be used to buy food,” Young said.
The food center operation is completely managed and ran by volunteers. It donates perishables and non-perishable food products to qualified clients and is ran through the Catholic Charities office on the downtown square.
Dry Up Hunger Co. sold more than 1,000 UCM branded beach towels and received various donations from local business to raise the money. Towels sold for $15, and they made roughly $6 profit for each towel sold.
