Warrensburg man dies in industrial accident in Sedalia plant

SEDALIA, Mo.--A Warrensburg man was killed in an industrial accident here Tuesday evening.

Pettis County Coroner Robert "Skip" Smith identified the worker as Robert Hursman, 31, of rural Warrensburg.

He said Hursman, a machine operator, died of massive injuries to his head and upper body when he became entangled in a machine that braids wire rope at the Wire Rope Corporation of America plant here.

The accident was reported in a 911 call at 6:22 p.m. Hursman was dead when emergncy personnel arrived, Smith said.

Plant managers sent home workers who had witnessed the accident because they were so upset. An autopsy is scheduled in Boone County because it was an industrial accident, the coroner said.
