BUTLER, Mo. -- Two people were killed when their overturning car ejected them along U.S. 71 Sunday afternoon.
Sgt. F. Chambers of the Missouri Highway Patrol said a northbound car driven by Lucas W. Turner, 29, of Rich Hill, Mo., went off the right side of the road one mile south of Route B, then veered off the left side into the median, and overturned, coming to rest in the southbound lanes of the divided highway.
Turner and his passenger, Kendall E. Heckadon, 20, of Rich Hill, were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled.
Both men were pronounced dead at the accident site. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, Chambers said.
This was the 30th fatal accident in Troop A's area this year, and the 33rd and 34th fatalities.
