WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Every Wednesday and Saturday morning, an empty lot downtown becomes a farmer's market, as area growers, cooks, bakers and crafters set up booths to sell their goods.

The farmer’s market opens at 7 a.m., and closes when everyone has sold out. Jan Evans is the market master, and has been attending the market for eight years. She took the position of market master after seeing so many people attend, the hurried bustle, and making friends with other Warrensburg residents.

Vendor Jeanne Counts said "I like to attend the farmer’s market, just to see what’s happening and see all the new vendors."

Counts sells fruits, ranging from cherries and blackberries, and various vegetables. Nearby, John Babcock is offering products of the Wisconsin Cheese Co. So while some may sell their own goods, others have brand-name items for sale.

While strolling through some of the treasures at the market, one is sure to notice the booth of Annette Sroggs, which is decorated in colors with dolls, cards and rings that she has created.

She takes an ordinary card and makes it pop almost like three-dimensional with various scenes, from flowers to babies. Scroggs has been going to the farmer’s market for one year, but said she has been noted in Silver Dollar City for more than 25 years as a featured artist.

The farmer’s market is open to the general public and draws entire families. Even if one does not buy anything, the vendors seem to enjoy meeting and chatting with people who come by.

The Warrensburg Farmer's Market is at Holden and North streets, near the Trails Library.
