COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP)--An $8.5 million interactive children's museum that opened to great fanfare last year in Columbia continues to struggle.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reported that the YouZeum has reduced its general admission hours to two days a week and lost its second director in a year. Museum leaders projected the it would attract 60,000 visitors a year. Instead, annual attendance is about 18,000.

The museum opened in May 2008 after years of false starts and delays. It is located in a former federal building and received $750,000 in federal money, $250,000 in state tax credits and $350,000 from local governments.
