WARRENSBURG, Mo., -- The Gust Wetzel Family Foundation has given a three-year, $33,000 gift to support two programs offered by UCM's Theatre Department.

The gift allows the Central Missouri Repertory to present its annual traveling children's show and will provide a significant award to theater students participating in the Theatre for Young Audiences National Play Writing Competition.

The Wetzel family, of Clinton, has been donating to the University since 1997. Their gifts have given support to several campus areas, including the James C. Kirkpatrick Library, the Henry County Scholarship, the Laura J. Nahm Auditorium, the Webb-Chinese American Scholarship and multipl scholarship in music. They also support the public broadcasting area and made additional donations to the Central Annual Fund.

"We've always had a love for UCM," Susie Wetzel said, speaking for the family. "We chose to sponsor the children's theatre programs because the performances touch the lives of so many young people, both the students involved in the production and the children who enjoy the shows," Wetzel said. "We remember our own children enjoying the traveling performances when the program had just begun."
