Lecture and workshop by Magda Gluszek

The University of Central Missouri's Gallery of Art and Design and Clay Club is hosting a lecture and workshop by ceramic artist Magda Gluszek. She is featured in the Gallery's current exhibit, "Playful Things."

Gluszek will present a lecture on her work Thursday, Feb. 18, at 12 p.m. The informal lecture will be in the Gallery of Art and Design.

She will instruct a two day workshop Thursday, Feb. 18 and Friday, Feb. 19. There will be three sessions on Thursday. The first session is 8 to 10:45 a.m. The second session will be 1:45 to 3:45 p.m. The third session is from 5:30 to 8:15 p.m. The Friday session is from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The workshop will be in the Art Annex building (ceramics studio) located one block east of the art Center near the corner of South and Maguire St.

The workshop will focus on Gluszek step-by-step process in creating her work. Day one, she will demonstrate her process from early sketches and plans to building armatures out of newspaper, brinks and wood. Day two, she will demonstrate her hollowing technique, the firing process of delicate work and surface treatments.
