Carmike Cinema is located at 386 Hawthorne Blvd., behind Wal-Mart.

Free popcorn and beverages--including soda, water, beer and wine--were included with the $20 admission ticket.

Monetti's Pizzeria and Ristorante provided guests with a sampler platter including meat balls, breadsticks, toasted ravioli, chips and spinach dip.

As guests walked up the red carpet, the doors opened to release the cool sounds of the local jazz band "Four."

Guests were then given the chance to enter raffles, roam the new facility, eat, drink, mingle and take photos with Storm Troopers and Darth Vader.

A few major improvements cited by many guests who attended the VIP party were the stadium seating and plush arm chairs, plus Texas Instruments DLP sound and projection, the latest in theater technology.

The concession stand in the new theater complex is painted in vibrant colors and features flat-screen televisions that list the price of concessions.

Star Wars characters were at the opening to pose for pictures with the guests.

Carmike Cinemas representatives presented Tony and Penny Monetti, in affiliation with the local charity Connected Hearts, with a donation of $1,000.

Half of the party's proceeds benefited the local charity Connected Hearts, which aids local homeless children.
