KTBG-FM 90.9 The Bridge nominated for station of the year

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- "Radio and Records," the premier music
industry trade magazine, has announced that KTBG-FM 90.9 The Bridge, the
University of Central Missouri’s public broadcasting radio station,
has been nominated for its Triple A Industry Achievement Award -
Non-Commercial Station of the Year, Top 50 Markets.
The Bridge, based, is included in the Top 50 markets
based on its success in Kansas City.
According to Donald Peterson, UCM’s director of broadcasting
services, this nomination is significant because it is peer-nominated.
“We are quite proud to be recognized,” Peterson said. “The
nomination speaks to the respect we’ve generated in the music
community."
Other nominees include KEXP Seattle Washington, KUT Austin Texas, WFUV
New York New York, WXPN Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and WYEP Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania.
Jon Hart, program director for The Bridge, acknowledged the strength of
the other nominees.
“I’ve suggested to our staff that they treat the nomination as a
win; we’re up against some truly incredible radio stations,” Hart
said. “This is our first nomination, and it took us completely by
surprise. We’ll make every effort to live up to the nomination;
it’s certainly motivation as we work to grow the station.”
Winners will be announced Saturday, Aug. 9 at the Radio and Records
convention in Boulder, Colo.
90.9 The Bridge marks its 7th anniversary Aug. 19. Broadcasting at
90.9 on the FM dial, listeners also can stream the station at
www.ktbg.fm.
