Flo Mullis, 93, longtime teacher in Warrensburg district, has died; funeral is Thursday

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Florence “Flo” Mullis, 93, of Warrensburg, died Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
She was born on May 26, 1916, in Austin, Mo., the middle daughter of Grover E. and Lula (Gilbert) McCaslin.
On April 17, 1938, she was united in marriage to Glen Mullis, in Humansville, Mo. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1982.
Flo was a 1933 graduate of Archie High School. She received her Bachelors degree in 1946 and Masters degree in 1959 from Central Missouri State. She taught three years in Cass County Rural, 2 years at Johnson County Rural and 29 years in the Warrensburg R-VI School District .
Flo was a member of the First Christian Church of Warrensburg and active member of
the Church Women Fellowship (CWF). She was also a member of the local, state and national Retired Teachers’ Association and MU Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a life member of Western Missouri Medical Center Auxiliary.
Survivors include a sister, Vivian Franklin of Lee’s Summit; a niece, Gayla Honeycutt, and husband Richard of Lee’s Summit; and a nephew, Richard Ritchie and wife Kay of Spring Hill, Fla. She will especially be missed by her great nieces, Debbie Ritchie Prior and Cindy Ritchie.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Jewell Ritchie; and three nephews, Larry Franklin, Lyndon Ritchie and Randy Ritchie.
The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at the First Christian Church of Warrensburg.
Pastor Jerry Basye will be officiating.
The family will receive friends on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until service time at the Church.
Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Christian Church Building Fund and may be left at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
