Former university employee Warren Mackey is dead at 98

WARRENSBURG, Mo.--Warren Mackey, 98, of Warrensburg, died Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at the Ridgecrest Nursing Care Center .

He was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Clinton , Mo. , the son of Jim and Elizabeth (Templeton) Mackey.
He married Leona M. Gray, Jan. 1, 1968.

Mr. Mackey was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He worked as a custodian for Central Missouri State University .

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Mackey, of Chicago ; and a son, Robert Carter, of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, a brother, Wayne Jackson, and a sister, Viola Mackey.

His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 15, 2008, at the Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, the Rev. Joe Alexander officiating.

Burial will be in the Antioch Cemetery in Clinton . Pallbearers are Earnest Collins, Herb Carter, Gilbert Forbush, Spencer Taylor, James Edward Turner and Charles Briscoe. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 131 and VFW Post 2513 of Warrensburg.

The family will receive friends Friday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home of Warrensburg and may be left in care of the funeral home.
