Funeral is Wednesday for Alta Jageman, 91, who died Saturday in Ohio

KNOB NOSTER, Mo.--The funeral for Alta M. Jageman, 91, formerly of Knob Noster, will be here Wednesday.

She died Saturday, July 24, 2010, at O'Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens, Ohio. She had resided in Athens with her son Larry and daughter-in-law Mary (Tracy) Jageman since 1999.

She was born Aug. 15, 1918, in Clinton, the daughter of Oscar and Mary Elizabeth (Bussee) Raef. She married James E. Jageman Dec. 26, 1935, and they resided together in Norris, Calhoun and Knob Noster, when James was superintendent of schools in each of those communities. He preceded her in death Aug. 14, 1990.

She was a devoted housewife and mother of their four children, Dr. Larry Jageman, Athens, Ohio; Linda Jageman Clark, Baldwin, Kan.; Sharon Jageman Seigler, who preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2005; and Jerry Jageman, Santee, Calif.

Alta was a member of the Knob Noster United Methodist Church, supporter of her children's athletic and artistic endeavors, and supporter of the many various public school events in Norris, Calhoun and Knob Noster.

She is survived by her sister Corinne (Raef) Ramey, Kansas City; her children: Larry Jageman and wife, Mary, Linda Jageman Clark, Jerry Jageman; her son-in-law Ron Seigler, Nolensville, Tenn.; her grandchildren: Kevin Clark, Baldwin, Kan.; Brad Jageman and wife, Rebecca, Springboro, Ohio; Broc Jageman, Athens; Deedrae (Suiter) Colliver and husband, Greg, Knob Noster; and her great-granddaughter, Sharae Colliver, daughter of Deedrae and Greg; nephews: David Ramey, Kansas City, Bob Burke of Clinton; nieces: Kathy Ramey May and husband, Steve, of Liberty, Mary Francis Burke Hood, Colorado Springs, Colo., Darlene (Nichols) Snell, Linn Valley, Kan., and Kay (Nichols) Leonard of Kingston, Tenn.

Besides her parents, husband, and daughter, Sharon, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Gene Raef; her sisters: Freda Mae (Raef) Nichols and Maxine (Raef) Raines; her niece, Penny Nichols; and her nephew, Bruce Bachman.

Her funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday July 28, at the Knob Noster United Methodist Church, followed by a graveside service at Knob Noster Cemetery.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Athens, Ohio, Central Avenue United Methodist Church at 12:30 p.m. Sunday Aug. 1.
