Ida Frances Breeding-Scott, 89, has died; memorial service is Saturday

LEE’S SUMMIT, Mo. –Ida Frances "Sandy" Breeding-Scott, 89, of Lee's Summit, formerly of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at John Knox Village in Lee's Summit.

She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Herkimer, Kan., the daughter of Archie and Emma (Zinn) Breeding.

She married Walter A. Scott in Alexandria, Va., July 4, 1941. He preceded her in death Jan. 10, 2001.

Sandy worked for the government in civil Service in human resources at Whiteman Air Force Base, retiring in 1977.

Sandy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she had served as an elder and taught Sunday school. She was a member of the Chapter H.W. P.E.O. sisterhood and volunteer at Western Missouri Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include two sons: Richard C. Scott and wife Linda of Jewett, Texas and John D. Scott and wife Barbara of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter Kathryn A. Scott of St. Ann, Mo.; four grandchildren: Erika Posener and husband Bill of Fort Worth, Texas, Joshua Scott and wife Bobbi and Andrew Scott both of Kansas City, Mo., and Melody Valet and husband Seth of Blue Springs, Mo.; two brothers: James Breeding of Marysville, Kan., and Loren Breeding of Lakewood, Colo.; and a sister Raleighta Tyler of Olathe, Kan.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.

Her memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church of Warrensburg. The family will receive friends after the services in the church parlor.

The Rev. Alex Wales will be officiating.

A private family burial will be in the Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church, Village Hospice of Lee's Summit or charity of donor's choice and may be left at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
