Lloyd Smith, 87, of Warrensburg, has died; his funeral is Wednesday in Higginsville

HIGGINSVILLE, Mo.--A military funeral for Lloyd M. Smith, 87, of Warrensburg will be Wednesday at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery.

Mr. Smith died Sunday, July 25, 2010, at his Warrensburg home.

He was born April 2, 1923, in Chilhowee, Mo., the son of
Thomas Oliver and Elizabeth Doris (Coulson) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a World War II veteran, going into the Army in January 1943 to 1950. He served in General Patton's 3rd Army and crossed the Rhine River.

After returning home, he worked in many restaurants in the
Kansas City area. Then, he was employed with the shoe factory in Windsor for more than 20 years until his retirement.

He is survived by three sisters: Doris Prince of Warrensburg, Peggy Mendoza and Viola Livengood both of Leeton; and a brother, Raymond Smith of Waxahachie, Texas .

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at
Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, with full military honors.

Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
