Lucy Mudd, 84, has died; funeral is Friday

WARRENSBURG, Mo.--Lucy Claire Mudd, 84, of Lees Summit, Mo., formerly of Warrensburg, died Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lees Summit.
She was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Higginsville, Mo., the daughter of Ryland T. and Frances M. (Yates) Miller.
She married Billy Paris Mudd in Lexington, June 1, 1947. He preceded her in death Dec. 27, 2006.
Mrs. Mudd was a graduate of the Mayview High School and was employed at Hallmark in Kansas City during World War II in the secretary pool. She also worked at Johnson County Memorial Hospital as a nurse’s aide. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Warrensburg and Warrensburg DAR, where she served in many positions, including regent.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Claire Kilmer of Higginsville; 2 sons: Lawrence William Mudd and wife Deborah of Lees Summit, and David Ryland Mudd and wife Janet of Warrensburg; 2 brothers: Clyde R. Miller of Odessa, and Edward F. Miller of Independence; 4 sisters: Marjorie Moore of Bellflower, Calif., Frances B. Conn of Newton, Kan., Sandra Ward and Kathryn Sallaz, both of Independence and Carolyn Davis of Sweet Springs; brother-in-law Donald Wayne Mudd of Lexington; 7 grandchildren: Lucinda C. Harris, J. Andrew Kilmer, Melissa A. Mudd, Mallory D. Pomerville, Macae L. Mudd, Amanda J. Anderson and Lauren A. Mudd; and 4 great- grandchildren: Lanelle P. Cole, Liberty L. Cole, Kate E. Kilmer and Aidan L. Harris.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Miller; and one great-grandson, William J. Cole.
Her funeral will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
Burial will be in the Warrensburg Memorial Gardens Cemetery . Pallbearers are J. Andrew Kilmer, Carl Anderson, David Mudd, Burnell Haldiman, Scott Ficinus and Tom Brown.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and may be left at the funeral home.
