Maxine Burgard was 30-year employee of ASC office; funeral is Friday

CENTERVIEW, Mo.--A graveside service is planned for Friday for Maxine Allie Burgard, 93, of Centerview, whom died Tuesday,
July 20, 2010, at Warrensburg Manor Care Center .
She was born on April 15, 1917, in Columbus, Mo., the daughter of
Jesse Franklin and Grace Olive (McNeece) Simmons.
She married Harold Burgard in Warrensburg, Sept. 27, 1947. He preceded her in death Jan. 29, 1998.
Mrs. Burgard was a 1935 graduate of Training School and attended a two-year business college in Sedalia, Mo. She worked for 30 years
at Johnson County A.S.C. Office & retired in 1975. After retirement, she also worked for Montgomery Ward for 8 1/2 years.
Mrs. Burgard was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday school class at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons: Jeffrey Lin Burgard of Holden and Harold D. Burgard II of Oklahoma; two daughters: Janet Sue Stitt of Indiana and Carol Jean Atkinson of Virginia ; a sister, Barbara Kay Hook of Warrensburg; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Thelma Lee Parks and Jessie Ellen Stevenson.
A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 2010, at
Sunset Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 8
p.m. at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg.
In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions to the Crossroads Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
