Memorial service Monday for UCM's Larry Cowan, who died July 17

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -– Friends and colleagues of Larry Cowan, vice president for university advancement and executive director of the University of Central Missouri Foundation, will
celebrate his life in a memorial service Monday, July 28. The event begins promptly at 2 p.m. in Elliott Union 238, and will be followed by a reception with refreshments.

University President Aaron Podolefsky will speak during the service, in addition to remarks by representatives of the UCM Foundation Board of Directors and the Alumni Board of Directors.

Individuals who wish to honor the memory of Cowan can do so through gifts to a memorial fund that is being established in his name through the UCM Foundation. Gifts will help establish a scholarship benefiting UCM students.

Cowan joined the university Aug. 1, 2007, after serving previously as associate vice president for development and alumni affairs at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla. He died Thursday, July 17, after a brief illness. The funeral near Boca Raton Monday, July 21.

The memorial service is open to anyone who wishes to attend. Individuals who would like more information about the service or the scholarship fund being established in honor of Cowan may call the Office of Alumni Relations and Development at 660-543-8000.
