Michael A. Hanna, 58, of Holden has died; a memorial mass is scheduled for Saturday

HOLDEN, Mo.—Michael A. Hanna, 58, of Holden, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at his residence.

He was born Aug. 7, 1951, in Independence, Mo., the son of Joseph A. and Velda R. (Cook) Hanna. He graduated from Holden High School and later attended the Chillicothe Trade School.

He was married to Julie M. Nixon, but they later divorced.

Mike was a meat cutter with both AF Super and Lloyd’s Foods in Holden at one time. Later, he was employed with Stahl’s Specialty for more than 20 years.

He was an avid hunter and trap shooter, having coached three successful high school teams. He was also a member of a local pool league, enjoyed barbecue cooking and helping his dad on the family farm.

Survivors include his daughter, Courtney Hanna; his son, Kyle Hanna and his parents, Joe and Velda Hanna, all of Holden; a brother, Sam Hanna and his wife, Dorothy Jean, of Sherman, Texas; several aunts and uncles, as well as several nieces and nephews, including Jeremy and Jason Flaspohler.

Mike was preceded in death by an infant brother, Martin Joseph, and a sister, Sheran Catherine Hanna.

Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009, at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Holden, with Father Peter Savidge officiating. There will be a private interment in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Holden at a later date.

There will be a rosary at 6 p.m. Friday at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, with the family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church Building Fund or American Heart Association.
