Mules’ wrestling falls to Central Oklahoma, 41-10
EDMOND, Okla.– University of Central Missouri Mules wrestling (3-11) fell to sixth-ranked Central Oklahoma here Thursday night 41-10.
Eric Mateo and Nick Viterisi were the lone winners for the Mules in this dual meet.
Mateo faced the Broncho’s Dustin Reed at 133 pounds and came away with the win after pinning Reed in the first period (2:23), giving the Mules’ the early 6-5 lead. Viterisi increased the Mules' advantage to 10-5 after taking an 11-3 major decision over Central Oklahoma’s Austin McNatt in the 141-pound match.
Central Oklahoma then showed why they are the sixth-ranked team in NCAA Division-II wrestling, taking the final seven matches to pick up the 41-10 victory over the Mules.
Central Missouri returns to the mats Feb. 12 in Kirksville, Mo., to participate in the MIAA Duals. Wrestling is set to begin at noon.
