Jennies jettison Truman State 60-33

KIRKSVILLE, Mo.- – With multiple players in double-figures for the seventh consecutive game, the Central Missouri Jennies basketball team defeated Truman State 60-33 on the road Wednesday.

That is the lowest amount of points the Jennies have allowed since giving up 32 in the 1988-89 season against Northeast Missouri at home. It is also the lowest amount of points Truman State has scored since the 1991-92 season, when the Bulldogs put up 32 against Nebraska-Kearney at home.

After a slow start by both teams, Truman State was first to get on the board with a layup at 18:07 by Becka McHenry. Central Missouri came back on its pursuing possession to tie it up with a layup by Danielle Shows, before going on a 6-0 run to put the score at 8-2.

The Bulldogs pulled within three points, as Breanna Daniels nailed a shot from beyond the arc. The Jennies then went on a 19-4 run going into the final media timeout of the half, making the score 27-9. Truman State ended the half by going on an 8-1 run, making four of their six free throws attempted.

The half ended with Central Missouri being up 28-17, giving up its least amount of points in the opening half this season.

The second half started just as slowly, as the Jennies made their first field goal since the 4:17 mark of the first half on a shot by Meghan Waggoner at 15:11 from three-point range that made the score 34-21.

Central Missouri went on a 17-0 run that was capped off by three buckets made by Taylor Hanson from beyond the arc that put the score at 56-28.

The game ended with Central Missouri making one point more to put the score at 60-33.

Four Jennies recorded double figures, as Waggoner led all scorers with 14 points. Rebecca Roberts and Shows both collected 13 points, and Kara Fleming recorded 10. Roberts also led the team with eight rebounds and Fleming had six assists.

Breanna Daniels was the lone Bulldog in double figures, as she had 10 points and a team high five boards.

Central Missouri will be back on the hardwood Saturday when itt travels to Bolivar, Mo., to take on the Bearcats of Southwest Baptist. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. from the Meyer Sports Center.
