Jennies pick up 76-59 win as Slifer records his 297th victory

WARRENSBURG, Mo.-- – The Central Missouri Jennies basketball team came away with the 76-59 victory today against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the Jennies Classic at the Multipurpose Building.

With this win, Head Coach Dave Slifer became the winningest coach ever in the MIAA. Coming into the contest today, Slifer was tied with former Pittsburg State coach Steve High with 296 victories.

Slifer has won 92 games here at Central Missouri in his five-plus seasons, and tallied 205 victories in his nine years at Missouri Western.

UCM (2-0) tied the game at 15 points with a free throw by Meghan Waggoner at 12:30 in the first half before ending the period with a 16-point lead. Central Missouri ended the half with a 22-6 run to put the Jennies up by a score of 37-21, heading into the locker rooms.

Coming out of halftime, Central Missouri kept rolling, as the Jennies added to their lead. Texas A&M-Kingsville scored in the first minute to bring the score to within 14 points, but never got closer than that the rest of the game.

The Jennies' largest lead of the game came at 13:09 in the second half, when Rebecca Roberts made a layup to put UCM up by 22.
Deidra Dace was one rebound shy of getting her first double-double of the season, as she brought down nine boards and scored 17 points for the Jennies.

Dace recorded a personal-game-high seven field goals in this game. Also with double digit points in the game for the Jennies was Roberts, who collected 12 points. Danielle Shows brought down a team-high 10 boards in the game.
