Minnesota-Duluth dumps Jens 63-53; UCM plays Friday in Bolivar

WARRENSBURG, Mo.--The University of Central Missouri Jennies basketball team lost its first game of the season, 63-53, to Minnesota-Duluth in Jennies Classic Saturday night. In the tournament, UCM went 1-1, defeating Texas A&M-Kingsville Friday.
Central Missouri (2-1) jumped out to an early six-point lead before Minnesota-Duluth came back to tie the score at 14 apiece at 11:38 in the first half. The Bulldogs started to pull away until Danielle Shows tied it up at 23 with 2:45 to go in the half. Deidra Dace then made a three, before the Bulldogs tied it back up at 28 going into halftime.
Coming out of the locker rooms, the Bulldogs took over and jumped out to an early five-point lead. Ana Migueres made two free throws at 13:23 of the second half to put the Jennies up by one. The Bulldogs went on a 14-6 run to put UMD up by seven.
Migueres made a layup at the 3:01 mark to even the score at 53, before allowing the Bulldogs to end the game with 10 unanswered points.
Migueres and Dace led the Jennies with 16 points each, and Shows collected 10 rebounds. Central Missouri recorded 10 second-chance points in the game to the Bulldogs' four.
Shows and Dace were both recognized to the All-Tournament team for the Jennies. Also on the team was Jheri Booker and Lindsay Miller from Minnesota-Duluth and Felicia Soza from Texas A&M-Kingsville.
The Jennies will be in action next on Friday, when they take on Drury in the SBU Thanksgiving Tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for noon from the Meyer Sports Center in Bolivar, Mo.
