No. 4 Jennies sweep Tigers

WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- The No. 4 Central Missouri Jennies volleyball squad polished off Fort Hays State 3-0 (25-8, 25-18, 25-17) on Saturday night at the UCM Multipurpose Building, hitting a blistering .381 as a team.
Central Missouri (28-4, 14-2 MIAA) made it a season sweep of the Tigers (7-23, 3-13 MIAA), and won its 10th consecutive home match in the process.
The Jennies wasted no time in the opening set, scoring 12 points before the Tigers could even get on the board. They coasted from there, generating seven blocks, and forcing FHSU to hit -.194.
The second game saw the Tigers stay with the Jennies until the 16-point mark, when UCM went on a 6-0 run, thanks to three consecutive aces from Bradye Peniston.
The final set was much of the same with the Jennies rallying after a 14-14 tie, scoring the next five points, highlighted by a couple Paula Harris kills. Central Missouri cleared the bench in the outing, with 13 players seeing action.
Harris, along with sophomore Allie Huffman, had eight kills to lead the way while junior Abby Gruenbacher threw in seven kills. Peniston had a match-high four block assists to go with her 14 points. FHSU had a .110 hitting percentage on the night, while UCM had 10 blocks.
The Jennies will celebrate senior night on Wednesday against Truman State. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building.
