WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- UCM may not be losing its president, Aaron Podolefsky, after all.

According to the Log Cabin Democrat, Conway, Ark., during a special meeting Thursday, the trustees voted 5-2 to offer a contract to Allen Meandors, chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Podolefsky was one of 40 applicants nominated for the position. He remained in the running as UCA narrowed its decision down to four candidates earlier this month.

Rush Harding, board of trustees chairman, told The Log Cabin Democrat he felt Meandors was right for the job because of his knowledge of the community. Meandors is a graduate of UCA who has studied health care and education.

He may be offered a salary of as much as $212,000.
