LEETON, Mo.--It was payback time here for the Leeton Bulldogs Tuesday, as they defeated Chilhowee 65-56.
The Chilhowee Indians had beaten Leeton , 57-55, Jan. 28. This win moves the Bulldogs to first-place tie with KC Lutheran in conference play.
Chilhowee's defense was designed to negate Cameron Elwell from touching the ball, said Leeton coach Rick Mills, " and thus he only took seven shots for the night. Alex Anstine stepped up and drilled home 10 in the first quarter, but the Indians' defense moved to stop him from catching the ball the rest of the game."
The Bulldogs relied on freshman Dylan Swabby and James Cavender and they responded with 19 and 10 points respectively to go along with their 10 assists. Colter Armstrong dominated the inside with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Anstine had 10 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
Leeton led 20-16 after one period, 32-27 at the half, and 48-41 after three quarters.
Leeton will play Sweet Springs at home Thursday night.
