Warrensburg girls win district cross country

MOBERLY, Mo. -- Warrensburg's girls cross country team earned a trip to the Class 3 state meet with an impressive victory in Saturday's Class 3 District 5 meet at Moberly Country Club.
Abby Ersland led the Lady Tigers with a fourth-place finish (21 minutes, 10 seconds), and teammates Amber Priest (6th, 21:27), Kendra Fox (7th, 22:15), Christy Crouse (12th, 22:35) and Katie Nelson (13th, 22:37) rounded out the Lady Tigers' scoring.
Warrensburg's top five all earned all-district status and the team's tally of 37 points was well ahead of second-place Marshall (73).
The girls state Class 3 race begins at 12:05 p.m. Saturday at Oak Hills Golf Course in Jefferson City.
The Warrensburg boys finished third in a district field that sent two teams to the state meet. Helias won the boys meet with 40 points, Grain Valley had 73 and Warrensburg 79.
Two Warrensburg seniors, Sean Reed (9th, 18:21) and Kyle Ritchhart (15th, 18:48) did earn all-district honors and will run as individuals at the state meet beginning at 1:15 p.m.
