Two-car collision results in a death, 2 serious injuries

SEDALIA, Mo. - A two car collision results in a Sedalia man's death, two others being seriously injured and both cars being totaled.

Missouri Highwy Patrol trooper D.N. Morey said the accident happened at 12:28 p.m. Monday, when Patrick W. Lynch, 64, of Sedalia was southbound on US 65 at North Grand Avenue and struck the halted car of Teresa Gilmore, 53, of Sedalia at a stop sign.

The crash caused both vehicles to travel off the right side of the roadway before coming to rest. Both vehicles have been totaled.

One of the passengers in Lynch's car, Sedalia resident Ulysses G. Washingtion, 69, was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene by Pettis County Coroner Ben Banner. His next of kin has been notified.

Lynch's other passenger, Sedalia resident Angela J. McCartney, 49, had serious injuries and was taken to Bothwell Regional Medical Center by EMS.

The second driver, Gilmore, also suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to University Hospital in Columbia. Lynch had moderate injuries and was taken to Bothwell Regional Medical Center by a private vehicle.

Lynch was the only one wearing a seat belt, Morey said.
