BreAnna Lewis earns MIAA Player of the Week honors

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – For the second time this season, junior guard BreAnna Lewis was named the MIAA Women’s Basketball Player of the Week, for her performance in a pair of home victories over Lindenwood and Lincoln.

Lewis scored a total of 22 points in both games last week, most of which came from her 11 three-pointers hit during the two wins. The Greenville, Miss. native shot an even 50% (11-for-22) from beyond the arc, and was 14-for-30 (46.7%) from the field. Against Lindenwood, Lewis was 6-for-15 from deep, and shot 5-for-7 from three in the win over Lincoln later in the week.

The junior has recorded exactly 22 points in her last three games, which includes the Jennies road victory at Missouri Southern on Feb. 9.

The Player of the Week honor is the team’s sixth this season, and the third in the last four weeks; no other team in the league has more than one award this year.

The 7th-ranked Jennies travel to Bolivar for their next matchup, as they take on Southwest Baptist Saturday, Feb. 23. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m., and the game can be heard on 98.5 The Bar, 1450 KOKO, and online at www.warrensburgradio.com.
