Old Drum Open Mic

February 1, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

This is the open call for writers, composers, story tellers, memoirists, playwrights and comics to enroll for a performance slot in the up-coming Old Drum Open Mic event.  The program will take place in downtown Warrensburg at Java Junction, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 1.

Poems, stories, comic sketches, memoirs and songs are usually represented at the monthly program, but play scripts and original music are also welcomed. Performance slots are up to 15 minutes, but most performers require only a fraction of that, allowing for more people to participate.

You can pre-schedule your appearance by emailing mpearce@embarqmail.com or by messaging through ODOM’s Facebook page.  Please supply your names and the titles of the pieces you would like to present.

A number of writers and performers have pre-scheduled for the event including Deb Noland, who will read children’s poems she is soon to publish in the book “Harvest the Stars. Phil Wagner will present a couple of singing and picking tunes. Barb Curtis will read a story from her archives, “Life in Pieces.”

Eddie Osborne has slated an essay on community building. Mark Pearce will read the poems “Photovoltaic,” “Children of Infinity,” and “Haiku Breakfast.” And Scott Umphrey will deliver the memoir piece “Something’s Up.”

Old Drum Open Mic is held the first Thursday of each month in Warrensburg. The series is in its fifth year of providing an outlet for the presentation of original works and performance and ODOM programs are free and open to the public.
