Since the 1970s and punk rock movement, skinny jeans have slowly crept into society’s fashion scene until 2010 – when it became and has stayed the ultimate “it jean.” However, this year’s wide array of jean styles, prints and materials make it easy to switch up your daily pants routine.

One of the top trends this fall are flare jeans. They’ve been featured all over the runway for the fall 2015 season –flare jeans are perfect for the cool weather to come.

Flare jeans, especially the high-waisted ones, are definitely giving their skinny competitors a run for their money.

A style similar to flares are the wide-legged pants. They stay the same width from hips to feet and were seen earlier this year, but with lighter material for the more steamy weather. For fall and winter seasons, think of pants styles such as canvas pants, Afghan pants and Palazzo pants.

Apart from the top style, the go-to material to look for this fall is leather and vinyl. Search for them in neutral colors like black, red, burgundy and brown.

If you aren’t too fond of leather pants, there are plenty of prints for you to choose from. While shopping for your fall pants wardrobe, be on the lookout for trendy patterns, fun graphics and prints like checks and stripes. Stripes can cover the whole leg or there can be a single stripe going up on one side.

You can also look for patchwork jeans. These have patches sewed on in colors or prints different from the original material used to make the jean.

If all of these options simply aren’t within your comfort zone, and you still want to wear your skinny-jeans, there are a couple of ways you can do that and still mix it up.

Raw hem is one way you can continue to rock your skinny-jeans. This means the bottom is frayed as if you cut the bottom off and pulled some of the threads loose. You could also try the tube sock jean look, where there are three white stripes along the bottom of the jean.

This fall is extremely diverse when it comes to what pants you can wear, so don’t be afraid to retire your skinnies and give a new pair a try.
