Jack P. Moorefield Sr.

Jack P. Moorefield, Sr., of Kingsville, Missouri, died Saturday, Sept. 2, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept.10 at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden, Missouri, with Brother Tom Rowland officiating.

Jack was born May 25, 1936, in Lexington, Kentucky, the son of Edward L. Moorefield and Rosa May (Sampson) Moorefield. He graduated from Lafayette High School in Lexington, Missouri. He was united in marriage to Dorothy E. Harris on Nov. 26, 1958, in Lexington. In 1961, the couple moved to Kansas City. Jack delivered bread, pumped gas, worked in heavy road construction, and did custodial work for the Kansas City School District prior to becoming a letter carrier with the United States Post Office for 32 years. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats Fan. He enjoyed tending to his vegetable gardens. He attended Rose Hill Baptist Church in LaTour, Missouri, where he often sang. Jack was a member of Garden City Community Choir for several years. He also enjoyed woodworking and spoiling his three Pugs, Molly, Gabby and Abby and a rescue pup, Missy.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; four children: Jack P. Moorefield, Jr. and wife, Evonne of Miami, Florida; Melody Rudolph and husband, Jason of Kingsville, Missouri; Daniel Moorefield and wife, Layla of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, and Jeffrey Moorefield and wife, Amanda of Independence, Missouri; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Interment will follow at the Kingsville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Cummings, Westin Gilliam, Bryant Moorefield, Brandon Rudolph, Cory Rudolph, Dezeray Rudolph

The family will receive friends, one hour prior to service, Sunday at the funeral home.
