James Franklin Gudde

James Franklin Gudde, 80, of Kingsville, Mo., died Saturday, Sept. 1 at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.

James was born Jan. 13, 1932 in Sedalia, the son of Francis Edward and Ruby Mae (Finch) Gudde. He had lived in Sedalia, Odessa, and Centerview, but most of his life in Holden and Kingsville. Franklin graduated from Holden High School in 1950 and was a member of the undefeated football team that year. He was a veteran of the Korean War, a member and past Trustee of Kingsville Baptist Church, past member of the Holden Jaycees, a member of Holden Lodge 262 A.F. & A.M, the Ararat Shrine, Holden Chamber of Commerce, Holden American Legion Post 90, and the Missouri Bowling Association.

On June 13, 1998 he married the former Betty Charlene Shull in Kingsville. She survives.  Also surviving are one son, Jim Gudde and wife, Kay, Kingsville; one daughter, Sherri and husband, Garland Christian, Blue Springs, Mo.; two step-sons, Troy Savage, Warrensburg, and Darby Savage, Windsor, Mo.; two step-daughters, Sondra Moore, Greenwood, Mo., and Becky Adams, Warrensburg; a half-sister, Sandra Weidenfeller, in Colorado; six grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5 at Kingsville Baptist Church in Kingsville with Pastor John McRoy officiating. Interment will be in the Kingsville Cemetery with Military Honors by Holden V.F.W. Post 5844 and American Legion Post 90. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ben Cast & Son – Wood Funeral Home, Holden, Mo. Memorial Contributions are suggested to the church.
