Murray “Allan” Dean

Murray “Allan” Dean, 83, of Holden, Missouri; formerly of the Pittsville Community, died Tuesday, at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.

Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at Williams Funeral Chapel in Holden with Pastor Blake Fortner officiating. Interment will follow at Blackwater Cemetery, near Pittsville. Pallbearers will be Jenny Warness, Sharon Dean, Jeremy Dean, Sarah Rudzik, Bobbie Cockrum, Jonetta Dean, Ed Smith and Tim Smith. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Banes, Wendell Osborne, Brian Jones and Charlie Buxton.

The family will receive friends from noon until service time, Saturday at the funeral home.

Allan was born April 26, 1935 in Kingsville, son of James Albert Dean and Elsie May (Ballard) Dean.  He graduated from Holden High School.  He was united in marriage to Sandra Kay Jones on May 22, 1955 in Pittsville.  Allan worked at Stahl’s in Kingsville for several years.  More recently, he was employed at Heimans in Holden, until retiring.  His passion was baseball, to the point of having two baseball fields constructed on the couple’s farm, complete with concession stands and restrooms.  It was known as Dean Park.  He coached and also pitched.

Survivors include his wife, Sandy; three sons, Steve Dean of Kingsville, MO; Jon Dean of Holden, MO and Randy Dean of Warrensburg, MO; twin sister: Mary Alice Smith of Bates City, MO; six grandchildren: Jenny (Joe) Warness of Warrensburg, MO; Sharon Dean of Warrensburg, MO; Jeremy (Sandy) Dean of Lee’s Summit, MO; Sarah (Jake) Rudzik of Grandview, MO; Bobbie (Nate) Cockrum of Warrensburg, MO and Jonetta Dean of Warrensburg, MO; Thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by two infant daughters: Rita and Sheril; two brothers: James and Charlie; and grandson: Christopher.
