Richard Vaughn ‘Linn’ Linnell II

Richard Vaughn “Linn” Linnell II, 74, of Belton, Missouri, died Thursday, April 26, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 1, with Brother Charles Brant officiating at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kevin Linnell.

Linn was born Feb. 8, 1944 in Atchison, Kansas, the son of Richard Vaughn and Beverly (Botkin) Linnell.

On Aug. 30, 1986, he and Barbara Watson were united in marriage in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She survives at the home.

Linn was a big sports fan. He loved the Chiefs and Royals. He played basketball for K State. He served in the US Air Force for three years. Everyone knew Linn as Pacy. Dan said he always asked him to change light bulbs. Cyndi remembers him as a gentle soul.

Terry said Pacy never had a bad day and considered him her best friend. Sheena and Stephanie remembered riding on his shoulders when they were little. They remembered him talking about the magic monk in the woods and Pacy’s magic tricks. Heather remembered she and Linn comforting each other when she was little during fireworks. Linn was a great man who was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.

Linn is survived by three children. He is also survived by two step children, Terry (Dan) Johns of Adrian, Missouri, and Cyndi Dill of Belton; three grandchildren, Sheena (Johnny) Dowland of Raymore, Stephanie (Dave) Salinas of Raymore, and Heather Johns of Adrian; six great grandchildren, Lil David Salinas, Dylan Mahurin, Taylor Dimmick, Damian Salinas, Dominick Salinas, and Destiny Kaley Salinas; and a sister, Robin Hankins.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Missouri Veterans Home and can be left in care of Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home.
