Thomas T. Simpson

Thomas T. Simpson, 83, of Holden, Missouri, died Friday Jan. 25, at the Kansas City Hospice House, Kansas City, Missouri.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. on Jan. 30 at Ben Cast & Son-Wood Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Wakeman officiating.

Thomas was born Jan. 29, 1935 in Richland, Missouri, the son of Bryan E. Simpson and Nellie (Coyle) Simpson. Thomas served six years in the United States Air Force and was a member of the Holden VFW Post 5844.

Thomas was united in marriage to Lera T. Gillespie on Aug. 3, 1957 in Richland. they moved to Holden in 1971. Thomas worked for AT&T for 27 years. Thomas loved living on the farm and raising a large garden, which he loved to share with neighbors and friends. He also loved to hunt, fish, and watch the Chiefs games and most of all he loved his dog, KC.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lera; three sons, Larry Simpson and wife Barbara of Harrisonville, Missouri, Bryan Simpson, Kansas City, Richard and wife Teresa, Lee’s Summit, Missouri; six grandchildren, Tyler, Jenny, Christina, Joe, William and Lera; ten great grandchildren, Trenton, Logan, Emma, Karah, Madison, Nathan, Nolan, Taylor, Christian and Tucker. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Donna Faye.

Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Thomas Simpson to Kansas City Hospice House, KCMO in care of the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Rick Simpson, William Simpson, Tyler Kartright, Gary Gillespie, Jerry Hubbard, Joe Simpson

Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Deaver and Donnie Hufford.

Interment was at Gilbert Cemetery, SW T Highway and SW 600 RD following the service with Full Military honors provided by the VFW 5844 and the American Legion Post 90, of Holden Missouri.
