UCM Athletics set for busy week of homecoming events

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — It’s homecoming week on the campus of the University of Central Missouri and the Mules and Jennies are set for a big week of home events.

The No. 7-ranked Jennies Volleyball team close out the weekend when they host fourth-ranked Washburn in a key MIAA match 7 p.m. Saturday at the Multi.

The Jennies soccer team (9-1-2, 5-0-1 MIAA) hosts 24th-ranked Central Oklahoma Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the South Recreation Complex. The Jens look to continue their 35-match unbeaten streak against MIAA competition.

Friday at 3:30 p.m. the Mules Football Office Complex will be dedicated as the Terry Noland Football Office Complex in a ceremony at the south end of Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. A reception for the dedication and for all Mules Football lettermen will be held at 7 p.m. at Traditions Restaurant at Pertle Springs.

Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. the annual Homecoming Pep Rally will be held at the UCM Multipurpose Building with the public invited to attend free of charge. The event will include performances by the Mulekickers, cheerleaders, Marching Mules and skits from various campus organizations. The Mules football and Jennies volleyball teams will be introduced as will the Homecoming royalty finalists.

All UCM Mule Train donors are invited to watch the UCM Homecoming Parade on Saturday morning at the Achauer House at 314 S. Holden St. The parade and refreshments will begin at 9 a.m.

The Mules football team (4-2, 4-2 MIAA) will headline the weekend with a 1:30 p.m. contest on Saturday against MIAA newcomer Central Oklahoma at Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field. The gates at Walton Stadium will open at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning or you can purchase tickets in advance at the Multipurpose Building Room 101 or by calling (660) 543-4063 between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Mule Train donors are invited to the pre-game tailgate in the Mule Train tailgate lot located just to the west of Walton Stadium. All parking lots will open at 10:30 a.m. with the Mule Train pre-game tailgate opening at 11:30 a.m. with food and beverage for Mule Train donors. Guests that are interested in joining the Mule Train may accompany members at a cost of $5 each. Non-Mule Train donors wishing to tailgate may park in the “Mule Stable” lots north of the UCM Physical Plant beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Radio station 1450 KOKO, 98.5 “The Bar” and www.warrensburgradio.com will begin broadcast coverage at 12:10 p.m. with the Mules Tailgate Show from the Mule Train lot, before sending it over to Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field for the play-by-play action and the postgame show. Following the Mules-Bronchos game, the Fitter’s Scoreboard Show will take place live from Walton Stadium/Kennedy Field.

A live student-run webcast featuring UCM student announcers will be available on a pay-per-view basis through AmericaOneSports.com. The cost to watch is $8 per game.
