Black Box Theatre presents studio one-acts

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) — Black Box Theatre is back with three nights of one-act plays Feb. 7-9 in the Black Box Theatre in Nickerson Hall on the UCM campus.

Admission to the night of Studio Theatre One-Acts is $1 per person at the door. Seating will begin at 7 p.m. and the performance begins at 7:30 p.m.

Children under the age of 5 years old will not be admitted, according to a news release.

“Date With A Stranger” was written by Cherie Vogelstein. In the play, Paula and Clark meet and begin a conversation and a relationship. Through out the show the highs and lows of all relationships are seen. Paula is played by freshman Katie Turnbow, Clark is played by senior Bob Wearing, and the Man is played by junior Dain O’Connor.

“Date With A Stranger” is directed by Katie Kucharski with technical direction by John Markley.

“Two Truths and a Lie,” by Michael Wagner, details what happens after the relationship is over. Danny and Claire, played by Chris Lohkamp and Hannah Williams, race home to the apartment each night and in the event of a tie, play the game Two Truths and a Lie.

This one-act portrays the last time the couple will ever play the game. “Two Truths and a Lie” is directed by Kayla Lopez with the technical direction by Amanda Trout.

“Naomi in the Living Room” was written by Christopher Durang. This one-act deals with the relationship between a mother and her son and daughter-in-law. Naomi is played by Bethanie Million, John is played by Kevin Williams, and Johnna is played by Taylor Anderson.

“Naomi in the Living Room” is directed by Pancha Brown with technical direction by Miranda Powers.

The crew includes stage manager Zach McGee, light board operator David Levota, sound board operator Rosie Swanson, house manager Sam Rudy, box office manager Tyler Rowe and run crew members Amber Nieznajko, Justin Wild and Sheri McCartney.

Dr. Richard Herman, Jeff Peltz and Ronnie Chamberlain are the faculty advisers.
