WHS Tigers cut down in homecoming game

The Warrensburg Tigers Football Team fell short to the St. Pius Warriors at the Homecoming game last Friday with a final score of 35-13. Zack Nowlin, ’15, scored the first touchdown on a 68-yard scamper. Jacob Carter, ‘16, added a three-yard touchdown.

Head Coach Scott Grinde was pleased with how hard the team played and said they competed well. “The kids played hard and are getting better,” he said.

While the team has improved they are still struggling to throw the ball and make plays. Though the team scored more touchdowns than in an average game, some on the team believe a primary focus should be on keeping their heads up.

“When we get scored on, our team gets down and doesn’t stay with it,” said Ty Larsen, ’14.

“The Warriors had big passing plays they scored touchdowns from. That got us down and we didn’t play as good as we could have,” said Carter.

Despite the loss, Nathan Griffith, ’15, said, “we did a lot of good things and definitely showed improvement.”
