Helen ‘Joyce’ Sweeney

Helen “Joyce” Sweeney, 77, died Thursday, Sept. 28, at Silvia G. Thompson Residence in Sedalia, Missouri.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, at Sweeney-Phillips & Holdren Funeral Home with Brother Charles Brant officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Regan, Jeff Pickett, Mike Allen, Jacob Allen, Michael Regan, Chris Regan, and Chris Buck.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time at the funeral time. Following the services there will be a gathering of family and friends at Cindy Lockhart’s and Jeff’s home.

Joyce was born on Nov. 2, 1939. in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Helen Evans and Liam LaFon. She was a military wife traveling extensively and settling in Knob Noster, Missouri, in 1969. She was a loving mother of four. She loved her career owning her day care service selflessly loving and caregiving for other children. In her spare time, she enjoyed bingo, skiing, dancing, billiards, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her four daughters, Cindy Lockhart and Jeff, Bonny Williams and Gary, Sandy Westbrook and Dave, and Deanna Allen and Mike. Joyce was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association and can be left in care of the funeral home.
