Jennies earn first trip to soccer Final Four

The Jennies soccer team beat Grand Valley State 3-1 Sunday at home to secure the first Final Four berth in the program’s history.

With this NCAA National Quarterfinals win, the Jens remained undefeated at 24-0.

Prior to Sunday, the farthest the Jens had gone in the NCAA Tournament was the Elite Eight round, which they accomplished the previous three seasons, according to a news release.

UCM continues to extend its program record for consecutive wins with 24. The 24 wins is also the most in a single season for the Jennies. The previous best for both marks was 19 straight wins (2010 season) and 21 overall wins (2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons).

In the NCAA postseason, UCM is now 12-7-3 all-time and 12-6-3 under Lewis Theobald.

The Jennies will take on Mercy College of New York in the Final Four. The Final Four and National Championship games will be played at Swope Park in Kansas City, Missouri. The Jennies and Mavericks will play Nov. 30. However, the kickoff time has not been announced.
