Mules and Jennies enter tournament as No. 2 seeds

(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) – The Central Missouri Mules and Jennies basketball teams both enter this week’s MIAA Tournament as the No. 2 seed in their respective brackets. The tournament gets underway with men’s quarterfinal action on Thursday, March 7 at historic Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, with the women’s quarterfinals on Friday.

The Mules (19-7, 13-5 MIAA), MIAA regular season co-champions, will play at 6 p.m. against the winner of 10th-seeded Truman State and seventh-seeded Pittsburg State. Those two teams will play at 7 p.m. Monday night in Pittsburg.

The Jennies (22-4, 14-4 MIAA) will play at 6 p.m. Friday against the winner of the No. 10 seed Missouri Western and seventh-seeded Pittsburg State. Those two teams will play Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Pittsburg

Central Missouri fans may attend post-game gatherings after each Mules and Jennies game during the tournament at Dukes on Grand (formerly Willie’s) at 1501 Grand Blvd in Kansas City. Dukes on Grand will offer specials on wings and beverages for UCM fans. It is owned by Bill Flamank, a former teammate of Mules head coach Kim Anderson  and a strong supporter of UCM Athletics.

Tickets for the 2013 MIAA Basketball Championships are on sale through the Central Missouri Athletic Ticket Office. Save $15 by purchasing all-session passes through UCM instead of online or at the event. All-session passes are $50 per person if purchased at UCM and $65 online or at the door. Tickets will be available in the UCM Athletic Ticket Office until 12 p.m. Wednesday in room 101 of the Multipurpose Building or by calling 660-543-4063.

If the Mules win their quarterfinal round game they will play in one semifinal at 2:15 p.m. Saturday with a potential Jennies’ semifinal game taking place later that day at 8:15 p.m. The men’s championship game Sunday is slated to start at 1 p.m. with the women’s championship at 3:30 p.m.
