Details released on Obama’s UCM visit

(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) – In a press release from the White House Sunday, it was announced that President Barack Obama will visit the University of Central Missouri Wednesday, July 24. He will be giving a speech at about 4:05 p.m. at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center. The event is free and open to the public. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Due to limited event space, the White House will only be able to fulfill a limited number of requests for tickets. Tickets are not for sale or re-sale.

Tickets are available at the SRWC, located at 500 S. Maguire St., starting at 10 a.m. Monday. On the day of the event, doors will open at the Student Rec at 1:45 p.m. For security reasons, it is suggested that attendees do not bring bags and limit personal items. There are no signs or banners permitted. All attendees will go through airport-like security. Limited parking is available in campus parking lots.

“On Wednesday, July 24, the president will kick off a series of speeches beginning at Knox College in Galesburg, Ill., followed by remarks at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg, Mo., where he will lay out his vision for rebuilding an economy that puts the middle class and those fighting to join it front and center,” the press release stated. “The president will talk about the progress we’ve made together, the challenges that remain, and the path forward.”
