Providers, volunteers needed for Project Community Connect 2014

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – Volunteers and service providers are needed for Project Community Connect 2014 in Warrensburg and Johnson County.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in the University of Central Missouri Student Recreation and Wellness Center.

This is the third year for the event. The one-day, one-stop shop event is designed to deliver services to people throughout Johnson County. This includes the homeless, as well as those with limited resources.

Donations of goods and services are needed, and cash donations, which will be used to purchase items that are distributed free, also will be accepted. Service providers and volunteers may sign up and donations should be made on the Project Community Connect website at projectcommunityconnect.orgor by contacting Bob Vickers, Project Community Connect committee chair, at 660-864-5415.

Organizers hope to provide birth certificates, mental and chemical health care screening, employment training and placement, medical and dental examinations, haircuts, photo ID assistance, free clothing, free lunch and more.
