Residents warned to abide Emergency Snow Ordinance

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – The National Weather Service is currently forecasting a winter weather event that will begin early Thursday morning, Feb. 21, with snow, sleet and freezing rain expected. The City of Warrensburg would like to remind residents of the following:

Phase I of the Emergency Snow Ordinance will go into effect Thursday morning at 1:00 a.m. until midnight that evening. Vehicles parked on Emergency Snow Routes could be towed at the owner’s expense.

The Warrensburg Public Works Department will make all possible attempts to clear area streets as soon as possible. All Emergency Snow Routes will be a top priority. Crews will focus on those and other major streets as their primary objective until they are cleared and the storm subsides. Icing of the roadways is of particular concern along with the potential for falling tree limbs, low hanging wires, and possible power outages.

The Public Works Department is asking for the cooperation of residents by not parking on City streets during this winter weather event to assure the safety of the public. Roadways are expected to become very slick during the major portion of this storm, which presents increased difficulty for motorists and crews in maintaining adequate traction with the roadway.
