(WARRENSBURG, Mo., digitalBURG) — Spotlight brought performing artists 3OH!3, Chevy Woods and Marcus Johnson to the Multipurpose Building Friday, Sept. 9, for the fall concert. About 425 students came out to the show.

Jon Barr, Spotlight special events coordinator, said the fall concert is one of the largest events he helps plan.

“We were talking about a group that was kind of a pop group, but also did a little bit of rock or electronic or something like that,” Barr said. “3OH!3 fit that label because they are an electronic group.”

3OH!3’s Sean Foreman said the group performs at many colleges across the country.

“It’s something that’s kind of very near and dear to us because we went to a big state school and had a lot of fun doing it,” Foreman said. “Whether we’re just us two in the studio experimenting with new sounds and having fun and laughing, making new music or with a couple thousand people having fun, it’s all the same thing.”

Nathaniel Motte, the other half of the duo, said he enjoys playing shows at a variety of venues.

“I mean, it’s a great excuse to get to go and travel and see a lot of the country,” Motte said.

Featured performer Chevy Woods said he keeps his performance energetic because an audience gives you the same feeling you give them. He said his goal for the show is to gain at least one fan.

“That’s an extra fan, that’s somebody else that feels good about my music that I’m doing it for,” Woods said. “So, if I can just touch one person, cool. If I can touch everybody, great.”

Artist Marcus Johnson said older people are more set in their ways, so they’re harder to gain as fans, but college students are more impressionable if you come and rock a show.

“They’re willing to support you,” Johnson said.
