UCM production part of Kennedy Center festival

(WARRENSBURG, Mo.) – UCM’s Department of Theatre and Dance will present its full production of “Blue Window”by Craig Lucas in Lincoln, Neb., on Jan. 24 as part of the Kennedy Center American College Region V Theatre Festival.

“Blue Window” was one of six productions invited from a seven-state region to participate in the festival that runs from Jan. 20-26. It will be featured in the Lied Center Mainstage on the University of Nebraska campus.

UCM’s chair and professor of theater, Dr. Richard Herman, is director of the production, with faculty members Michael Benson, Jeff Peltz and Ronnie Chamberlain serving as scenic, lighting and costume designers.

In addition to presenting “Blue Window,” the department’s production of “The Tempest” will be showcased in the Region V Costume Parade.

Two student playwrights have also been selected to present their 10-minute plays. Jonathan Peck’s play “Wedge” and Sheri McCartney’s play “Between the Lines” will be showcased in the Ten-Minute Play Festival on Friday, Jan. 25.

Productions invited to the festival are considered for national awards of distinguished achievement presented in Washington, D.C., in April.
